Outcomes- Based Education Implementation Among Maritime Schools in Region XI

Abstract:

The study was conducted to verify the extent of implementation of Outcomes Based Education (OBE) among the Maritime institutions in Region XI. Faculty and students‟ knowledge in policies, awareness in OBE principles, and extent of implementation were measured using a survey questionnaire and selected statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, weighted mean, T-test, ANOVA, and Pearson r. The researcher concluded that respondents had limited knowledge, understanding, and awareness of OBE. Furthermore, a moderate relationship was found on the level of expertise and level of awareness in the implementation. Thus, the researcher recommended that involved institutions might conduct an orientation in OBE. Lastly, another study could be performed so that an in-depth understanding could be arrived at.
