The study aimed to explore the lived experiences of patients with mechanical ventilator as cared for by nurses. The study used the qualitative retrospective approach with a narrative inquiry as of the method in data gathering. It was conducted in a Level III hospital with 295-bed capacity located in Davao Region. Data were gathered using nine (9) semi-structured interview questions. The results obtained emergent themes; Based on the accumulated experiences of patients, it was implied that patients with mechanical ventilator were truly dependent on nurses for care. Patients then realized the need for a mechanical ventilator for survival.
