ADMINISTRATIVE COMPETENCE OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS VIS-À-VIS RESULT-BASED PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF TEACHERS

Abstract:

The study aimed to determine the administrative competence of elementary school principals and the performance of teachers in Ma-a District, Division of Davao City. This study employed the no experimental quantitative research design utilizing descriptive correlation method. The universal sampling procedure was used considering the minimal number of teachers in the research locale. One hundred thirteen (113) were the respondents of the study. Using mean, Pearson-r, and linear regression analysis, the findings revealed that the level of administrative competence of elementary school principals and performance of teacher were both very high. Results revealed further that administrative competence significantly predicted the performance of teachers. In the light of the findings of this study, the Department of Education may develop a training/enhancement program that can improve the administrative competence of elementary school principals as they are school and community leaders in the 21st century. Further, Principals may develop ways of sustaining and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through effective supervising, managing, and retraining of teachers.
