UTILIZING ACTION RESEARCH INTO PRACTICE: EXPERIENCES OF SECONDARY PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS

Abstract:

This study looked into the utilization of action research conducted by public secondary school teachers into actual classroom practices; the challenges and difficulties they face and the ways they strengthen the conduct and utilization. The research, made use of qualitative phenomenological approach. Five teachers were respondents because they could provide rich data that would answer the research objectives. Data used semi-structured interview technique utilizing an interview guide. The analysis used Collaizi’s method. The results revealed that when action research was utilized, it could improve teaching practices, provide necessary intervention, and encourage collaboration. Further analysis revealed that lack of cooperation as well as lack of time could be problem. Answers to the last objective showed that there are ways to strengthen the conduct and utilization of action research into actual classroom practices. Among these are giving recognition, incentive, trainings and seminars.
