Kip Oebanda: Scaling the Market of Social Entrepreneurship

Diondy A. Palagtiw

Abstract:

He comes to FEU once a week to teach a debate class, but he may be mistaken for a student attending his classes instead. His young looks are deceiving and his stance is unassuming. But the moment he speaks, his words resonate to evoke an air of depth, grit, and genuineness.

Born on September 12, 1982 inside a prison cell in Iloilo City, Kip Oebanda grew up seeing only the jarred walls where his mother, Ma. Cecilia Flores-Oebanda, was detained as a political prisoner under the Marcos regime. For four years, Kip spent his childhood trying to live a normal life in prison which he innocently thought was his home.
