Abstract:

It is a matter of obligation that the UN system is promoting the global recognition for indigenous knowledge systems in achieving various environmental and sustainable development goals, since the 1st Rio “Earth Summit” in 1992. Such obligation was put into motion because of the strong push of indigenous peoples who developed and practiced this knowledge collectively as communities since time immemorial.
