Abstract:

Soccer, later called football in England (Helmer & Owens, 2000), is a notable sport worldwide. Almost every country has produced a unique variant of this sport. It is said that a sport similar to soccer has been played in China and Rome as early as 200 BC, and has been played to prepare warriors for battle in Ancient Greece and Rome. The name soccer came from the shortened Assoc and later Soc for American Association of Football and, later, named soccer (Helmer & Owens, 2000)
