Michelle M. Monteza-Atay

Abstract:

It is known known by now that children of ages 1 to 19 years of age look up to adults for guidance and modeling (Erikson 1982 in Papalia et. al. 2004). Behaviorism, in particular, asserts that every human reacts to conditions in the environment around them in the same way as other organisms do (Bronfenbrenner 1994 in Papalia et. al. 2004). When applied to students in school, there are other external factors that affect academic motivation, such as individual personality, family and friends, and school. This paper is a discussion on the input of teachers to the academic motivation of students, specifically, these are the discussion points: 1) the best teaching strategies and personal attributes displayed by teachers from the perspective of the students 2) the teachers' hopes to contribute to their students' future, in terms of personality development and life skills development 3) the best teaching strategies and personal attributes displayed by teachers that students would like the teachers to sustain 4) to reveal the best qualities of teachers that could motivate students to do better. 5) to develop a personality development program that could enhance teaching excellence in teachers
