Abstract:

Course Crediting System using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm is crediting management designed to cater technically in determining if the subject is accredited or non-accredited by the school registrar. The idea comes up when the registrars’ office needs of automation in the accrediting subjects just to fasten and upgrade the process of comparison. The Project is developed in VB applying Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm with a tesseract engine which partly focuses on basic procedures in the Registrar like converting scanned image Transcript of Records (TOR) into the text to come up the desired result of accredited and non-accredited subjects. Course Crediting System using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm grabs the opportunity to deal with and solve the manual method of the Registrars’ staff upon checking the Transcript of Records (TOR) during transferring method. Throughout this lifetime, Course Crediting System using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm that ensures enough result in comparing between TOR and the stored schools’ subjects in the system. The study endorse the used of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm with tesseract engine in the sense of converting image into text so it becomes readable.
