COMPETENCY IN THE UTILIZATION OF THE SELECTED CRIMINALISTICS LABORATORY EQUIPMENT AMONG THE CRIMINOLOGY STUDENTS OF LIPA CITY COLLEGES: ITS IMPLICATION TO INSTRUCTION SY 2009-2010

Abstract:

This study was conducted to determine the competency in the utilization of the selected Criminalistics laboratory equipment among the Criminology student of Lipa City Colleges and its implication to instruction. The descriptive method of research, the questionnaires were distributed and answered by the respondents prepared by the research and validated as tools in gathering data and information. The study sought to identify the academic performance of the student- respondents in their Criminalistics subject; the extent of competency among criminology students in the utilization of the selected Criminalistics laboratory equipment specifically in the following areas limited to the following: Fingerprint Identification Kit, Photo Enlarger, Bullet Comparison Microscope and Polygraph Machine or lie-detector machine; the significant relationship between student-respondents academic performance and the extent of competency among Criminology students in the utilization of the Criminalistics laboratory equipment; the significant difference on the extent of their competency in the utilization of the Criminalistics laboratory equipment and the implication to instruction of the awareness among Criminology students in utilizing Criminalistics laboratory equipment.
