Abstract:

The study focused on the production of tourist spaces in selected romantic comedy films of Antoinette Jadaone namely: That Thing Called Tadhana (2014), All You Need Is Pag-ibig (2015), and You‘re My Boss (2015). The researchers described how tourist spaces were created and represented in the films, explained the relationship between characters, stories, and tourist spaces, and critiqued its representation. Henri Lefebvre‘s theory on the production on space served as the foundation of this analysis. The study revealed that tourist spaces in the said films were being produced as spaces of escapism, paradise, romance and also power. The researchers also discussed possible implications on the travel decision making of the viewers and the commercialization of these tourist spaces.
