Discipline: Governance, Community Development
To determine the potentials and opportunities of an agriculture-based rural community, this study took the case of Cagayan de Oro’s Bayanga and Mambuaya to point out to local planners the need to include household income and gross barangay product (GBP) in coming up with a sustainable development plan that is community-based. It employed the econometric model by using variables associated with household income, derived both from agricultural and non-agricultural activities. At the macro level, the dynamics of income was determined through the expenditure model. This exercise aids local planning significantly in determing which areas and aspects of their communities need serious attention for barangays development to take place.
