Abstract:

Training needs analysis is designed to determine the level of significance of the different areas of skill training that are needed by the beneficiaries. This is one of the preliminary steps to do before the conduct of a certain program for training. This quantitative-qualitative study primarily designed to identify the skill training needs of students on co-curricular-related activities of Saguday National High School students. It is used as a basis for the conduct of an extension program to be offered by the College of Teacher Education of Quirino State University. Using a simple mean presentation, the level of importance of the training needs was computed, interpreted, and analyzed. This shows the quantitative nature of this study. On the other hand, the qualitative aspect of the research is manifested through the conduct of an interview with the administration officials, faculty, and students to triangulate the data gathered. Two areas for training were identified as “Very High” while all the rest of the remaining nine areas were “High”. The top three subjects namely: performing arts, reading, and livelihood education were considered as foci of the conceptualized extension program considering the availability and qualifications of the extensionists.
