This study endeavored to identify the factors affecting academic performance in English of the Junior Student Assistants in the Maintenance Department of Capitol University during the First semester, school year 2007- 2007.
This research is a descriptive- correlation study which involved 35 student assistants from the Maintenance Department of Capitol University as the sample size respondents obtained with the use of Slovin’s formula. In acquiring the desired data, there were two instruments used: Personal Data Questionnaire and Standardized Questionnaire.
On the other hand, in interpreting the obtained data accurately, the following statistical tools were used: Frequency Distribution, Weighted Mean and Pearson r Correlation Coefficient.
In addition, the study aimed to determine the factors affecting academic performance in English of the Junior student assistants in the Maintenance Department of Capitol University basing on their Midterm Grades’ general average in English during the first semester of S.Y. 2007- 2008.
Specifically, this study purported to answer the following queries:
• What is the profile of Junior Student Assistants of Maintenance Department of Capitol University in terms of:
1.1 Age,
1.2 Gender,
1.3 Year level and course,
1.4 Study Load,
1.5 Duty Hours and schedule,
1.6 Areas of Responsibility,
1.7 Length of Service,
1.8 Study Habits?
• What is the level of Academic Performance in English of the Junior Student Assistants in Maintenance Department?
• Is there a significant relationship between the respondent’s profile and their level of academic performance in English?
