The study investigated the role of quality assurance in managing education in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The design of the study was a survey research design. A sample of one hundred and fifty (150) undergraduate students of 300 levels were sampled in the three departments in federal university Gusau. The research instrument used for data collection was a standardized questionnaire on students’ perception of the role of quality assurance in managing education in tertiary institutions tagged (sprqame). The questionnaire had four sections and contained twenty-four (24) items in which respondents were required to tick the appropriate options on a 4-point Likert scale type of very great extent (vge), great extent (ge), moderate extent (me) to little extent (le) mean (x) was adapted to test the research questions. The analysis revealed that quality assurance brings external benefit to the students in managing education in tertiary institutions. It was concluded that based on the vital role’s quality assurance played towards managing education, there is a need to improve the standard of quality assurance units in tertiary institutions. It was recommended that quality assurance be established in all higher institutions to improve and enhance teaching and learning for sustainable development.
