PARENT’S INCARCERATION: ITS INFLUENCE TO CHILDREN

Abstract:

This descriptive research was conducted purposely to assess the influence of incarceration of parents in behavioral and psychological aspects of children. Simple random sampling was used and children of the inmates of Bureau of Jail and Management Penology, Cabarroguis, Quirino served as respondents. Results showed that majority of the respondents were high school graduates, Ilocano and most of their parents were incarcerated for one year or lower. Furthermore, the respondents revealed that they experienced serious problems on their psychological aspect due to parent’s incarceration. Respondents also expressed that behavioral problems such as “running away” and “early pregnancy for female children” as very serious problems. They also experienced serious problems on the socio-economic aspect of their life.
