Virtual Set-Up: Challenges and Prospects Among Language Learners

Abstract:

The shift of the learning platform from traditional learning to onlinebased learning imposes challenges in the learning process. The objective of this study was to determine the challenges and prospects of learning English in a virtual set-up among language learners. research The study employs a qualitative research design as it provides the researchers the window of opportunity to comprehend respondents’ perspectives on the challenges of online learning. It was discovered from the interviews that the challenges experienced by language learners in virtual learning are problems in internet connectivity, limited discussion of lessons and student engagement, unscheduled power interruption, and unexpected technical problems. It can also be noted that the prospects of language learning in a virtual set-up include the convenience of the learning set-up, a wide variety of accessible language learning resources, developing independent learners, and enhances the writing skills of learners.
