Abstract:

The study investigated the sustainability of Hugom, San Juan, as a beach destination that will serve as a basis for formulating guidelines. Specifically, it answered the carrying capacity, provision of services, and solid waste management. Some of the beach destination indicators were utilized to provide guidelines to sustain the positive impact and monitor, manage, and enhance beach resort destinations. The study used the descriptive design quantitative in nature, and a questionnaire was used as the data gathering instrument. The subjects of the study were purposively identified from personnel who have the highest positions in the 15 beach resorts in Hugom, San Juan. The study found out that there is a significant relationship between the profile and the level of sustainability in the beach resort destination. Based on the problem and findings of the research study, most of the beach resorts have operated for more than 6 years, which accommodates 500 and 1000 guests during peak season. In terms of sustainability, the beach resorts employ high levels. There is a high significant relationship between the profile and the level of sustainability in the beach resort destination. The researcher developed guidelines that be used not only by the beach resort management to maintain the sustainability of the said area.
