THE PREFERRED EMPLOYEE COMPRETENCIES AND PRACTICES OF MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF VOCATIONAL DUAL TRAINING PROGRA

Abstract:

This study focused on the assessment of prefereed employee competencies and practices of manufacturing industries to come up with a comprehensive vocational dual training program intended for First Instrial Science and Technology School. The subjects of the study were the HR managers and the employees of the electrical machinery manufacturing companies inside First Philippine Instrial Park in Santo Tomas, Batangas. Respondents include 46 HR managers and 397 employees. Purposive sampling was used to identify and determine the actual respondents. A research quaetionnaire was used as the main instrument in gathering the data needed in this study. The survey questionnaire focused on the problems encoundered in hiring competent employees, the hiring practices and the preferred employee competencies of those wmployed in the company. The significance differences of the responses of the HR manager and of the employees was investigated and analyzed for the strengthening of the preferred employee competencies and hiring practices of the manufacturing industries to design the school’s dual training program. The statistical treatment used were Weighted Mean, Ranking, t test and F test. The research revealed that poor quality of candidates is the number one problem in hiring competent employees. Getting the team involved in the hiring process is the most practices hiring procedure being implemented in electrical machinery industry. In addition, it was found out that electrical machienery manufacturing industry is accepting employees who have at least a High School Dimploma. Both HR managers and the employees manifested close similar point of views on knowledge, skills and attitude are found to be the competencies being considered with attitudes as the highly preferred in employment. Future researcher may conduct studies that may be either or both similar or related to this study in another research locale, and they may use this study for reference.
