RAISING ADVOCACY ON ERADICATING PLASTIC USE: THE VOICE OF LOCAL WOMEN

Marie Antonette A. Barrera

Abstract:

A study on inhabitants in one of the 25 cities that ranked among the three most densely populated areas showed that women comprised of more than half of the marketgoers were aware of the no-plastic use ordinance implemented by the government. Whenever they go to the market or do shopping, these women of the households brought along with them ecobags and other alternative bags in response to the ordinance implementation. The findings suggest that the women sector was capable of complementing with other advocates to promote the world’s call to reduce plastic pollution, if not, to eradicate use of a single-use plastic bag.
