Abstract:

This study was conducted to explore the use of, and current perceptions about projective testing among Filipino counselors. One hundred sixty two guidance counselors from mostly educational institutions in the Philippines participated in this survey study. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results showed that Filipino counselors prefer the use of the sentence completion test and human figure drawing test. Those who employed projective tests find them useful in assessing clients and in aiding in the delivery counseling. It was however revealed that there is a seeming lack of importance placed on getting sufficient training for the proper use of projective tests and also a lack of awareness of the more recent research on projective tests. Implications of the findings and proposed recommendations were discussed.
