Efficiency of Formulated Phytobiotics as Natural Growth Promoter for Sasso Chicken

DINA B. TADEO

Abstract:

In other countries, regulations on in-feed antibiotics have fueled the exploration of alternative solutions. A group of natural products known as phytogenic has been the focus of various research in recent years. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the effect of different formulated extracts as phytobiotics as a growth enhancer for Sasso chicken. Data were gathered, tabulated, and analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), while comparison among treatment means was analyzed using Scheffe test following Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Statistical results show a comparable effect in most growth parameters from the different treatments. Thus, there was a significant difference in weekly weight. Results further revealed that birds given with 5ml/liter of Oregano-based water had yielded the highest body weight, gain in weight, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Dressing Percentage, and recorded zero mortality. Therefore, it is concluded that different phytobiotics extracts can be used as a natural growth promoter for Sasso Chicken. Other locally available herbal plants can be explored for further research.
