This study evaluates the experiences of cadets from their internship onboard the MV Stella Del Mar, a Ro-Ro plying the Lipata-Liloan route. The study is descriptive and developed a questionnaire based from guidelines set by regulating bodies CHED and IMO through STCW. The survey was participated by 50 cadets who had completed the domestic phase of their internship. Results of the study showed that the cadets perceived the following aspects of internship to be well implemented: exposure on safe work environment, protection of marine environment, compliance to minimum manning requirement, capability to handle emergency situations, guidance in accomplishing training record book, and safe and hygienic environment. The study recommends the strengthening of elements of shipboard training that are perceived to have low extent of implementation – workplace conditions and ensuring that the goals of the shipboard training are achieved through active involvement of an onboard training officer on the progress of the trainees.
