Mayla Lee P. Reyes

Abstract:

This paper is an assessment of the varied barangay activities, projects and programs over the past six years of the UE-NSTP Gawad Kalinga Team at Ohio Village, Kabalata St., Tatalon., Quezon City. It provides a perspective on how the barangay, upon its adoption for community service, was studied and evaluated for sustainable development and envisioned empowerment through the institution of reasonable, attainable and appropriate projects and programs aligned with the objectives of the NSTP’s Civic Welfare Training Services (CWTS) and Literacy Training Services (LTS).It shows how the objectives of the UE NSTP Gawad Kalinga (GK) Team were realized through its carrier program: Pakikisalamuha or Community Immersion, which later on became known as Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP). The study’s salient feature is the inventory of projects, materials used, estimate of beneficiaries/recipients and financial allocations and resources. It shows as well the result of the different program evaluations conducted by the Office of the Extension and Community Outreach (OECO) of the NTL/NTC classes of the UE-NSTP GK Team and the NEP evaluation conducted in the barangay.
