COVID-19 pandemic has propelled higher education institutions to transition into an Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) to ensure that learning continues. This study aimed to determine the issues and challenges of student research in ERT. This research also sought to offer course of actions to address the findings. Descriptive method of research was employed with self-made and validated questionnaire being the data gathering instrument. One-hundred nine students enrolled in research course from a certain University were the respondents of the study. Weighted mean and standard deviation were utilized in the treatment and analysis of data. Findings revealed that respondents have issues in speed of internet connectivity, COVID-19 threats and risks, availability of learning space at home, quality of cellular signal, timing/phasing of submission of requirements. Challenges revealed were poor management of time for tasks at home and research, lack of sufficient resources where to find needed data, lack of self-confidence, fear of failure or taking risks and meeting deadlines of requirements have to be addressed. Preparation of courseware/module/manual, inclusion of lessons on Internet use, preparation of matrix schedule and clear procedure and rubric may be provided to students in addressing the issues and challenges.
