Urbanization is just one part of progress and development of a locality. Changes includes basically on the economic aspect but affects all areas of the life of the community. The most common changes are observed on cultural traditions and practices of the people residing in the area. In this regard, the study aimed to find out the lived experiences of the respondents on the impacts of urbanization on their cultural practices. A phenomenological approach was used to describe the impacts of urbanization using an unstructured interview in collecting the data. Residents who are 50 years old and above and have lived in Santiago City for at least ten years are included in the study. Thematic analysis using the inductive method was conducted on the data gathered. Results showed that urbanization has affected greatly the way of dressing and fashion, language use for daily communication and food and cuisine preferences. They perceived that these changes are inevitable and people must adapt to the changes in order to belong and survive the consequences of modernity and progress.
