Abstract:

Proper lighting makes tasks easier to do. Poorly distributed light or poor lighting can be a health hazard or can affect the quality of work. In Brgy. Dila in Bay, Laguna, a certain street lacked a lighting system that some accidents and illegal activities had been reported to the office of its municipal government. Through this study, the researchers showed three well-designed configurations for a street lighting system to provide a safe and secured environment. The researchers recommended alternative number 3 as the best proposed solution to the problem in terms of efficiency and cost. The payback period for this alternative is 0.505 year or 6 months. Its total project cost is much more economical than the other alternatives and its annual operation cost is less expensive. Its operation is easier to maintain.
