Abstract:

The study analyzed the communication patterns within the selected student organizations in Letran Calamba to assist in the development of an effective organization management. It also determined the similarities and differences of each organization in their communication patterns and the perceived strengths and weaknesses of those patterns. Using qualitative research design, the data were obtained through a focus group discussion. The researchers selected four (4) academic recognized student organizations from Letran Calamba: two (2) big and two (2) small student organizations. From each organization, two (2) members and two (2) officers were selected, giving a total of 16 participants. The data were analyzed thematically. The researchers found that the communication pattern perceived by the participants was the network pattern of communication, which helps them to communicate well with every member to achieve their organization’s goals. All selected student organizations in this study, big or small, had similar communication patterns, and they had no differences in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. As a recommendation, the student organizations in Letran Calamba may use this study to have further understanding of the importance of communication patterns.
