The major focus of this study was to develop a prototype module for online functional English for adult Asian national beginner learners to help them in their difficulties innusing English for different functions or situations. The researchers identified the difficulties of the Asian nationals through interview. During the interview, the Asian nationals showed their willingness to learn functional English although it was difficult on their part. Using the purposive sampling design. the researchers recruited 15 Asian nationals, five Chinese, five Japanese, and five Koreans. After the interview, the data were gathered and transcribed. Based on the findings, adult Asian national beginner learners had difficulties in English in terms of sound production, intonation, vocabulary, sentence construction, and grammar. The online prototype module was formed to help them cope with their difficulties in functional English. This online prototype module will be posted or uploaded in the internet to help the adult Asian national beginner learners enhance their skills in using functional English.
