This project aimed to minimize the volume of plastic materials in the surroundings and at the same time convert the plastic material into a profitable product. The machine is composed of a shredder ran by a motor where plastic materials will be torn into small bits. After shredding, the small bits will then be pushed on the extruder pipe through a screw type compressor. The shredded plastic bits will be heated while being compressed through the attached heating elements on the extruder. The melted plastic, shaped into long strips, will pass through the nozzle. This project will be beneficial to local weaving industry (e.g., furniture and home accessories), and it will create environmental awareness since plastic wastes are recycled and reused.
