Assessment of Food Hygiene Practices of Food Handlers in Army Navy Halang Calamba City, Laguna

Abstract:

Food hygiene practice must be learned by every food handler in food establishments to prevent a potential source of food borne diseases. The objective of this study was to assess the food hygiene practices of the food handlers at Army Navy located in Halang Calamba City, Laguna and make recommendations for further improvement of safety measures within the food establishment. This descriptive study used both qualitative and quantitative methods. The materials used to gather the required data for this study were observation checklist for the researchers and interview guide for the manager. The findings showed that Army Navy got an overall rating of very good (4.44), which means that the establishment complies with the food safety standards of HACCP. The management indicated that they look for ways to ensure that proper implementation of food safety is observed in the establishment. Hence, a constant monitoring of proper food hygiene practices during peak and off-peak hours was recommended.
