The Emergent Works as Innovations of the 21st Century New Literature Curriculum: Their Implications to Pedagogy in an Evolving Literary Landscape

Jeanette P. Grajo

Abstract:

This research study investigates the effects of the inclusion of the Emergent Works of Literature in the new curriculum. Known as “The Great Works” in the revised Literature core offering, its curricular content, which is a departure from the traditional Literature courses, aims to engage the students in the appreciation and critical study of twenty-first-century literature as delivered in the digital format. The selected emergent works, encompassing their various dimensions, genres, elements, structures, contexts, and traditions, are fast becoming popular with the students. For the research design, this qualitative study will use the descriptive, analytical, and critical methods of inquiry using the lens of Digital Literature. The researcher aims to focus on the contemporary literary genres considered emergent works of literature, identify, describe, discuss, and analyze the content of each based on specified contentstandards.
