Effectiveness of the Communication Styles in Streaming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang as Perceived by the followers of Akosi Dogie

Abstract:

This research determined how the selected followers of Akosi Dogie perceived the effectiveness of his communication styles used in streaming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The study also identified the communication styles used, and their strengths and weaknesses. To obtain the data needed for the study, the researchers conducted a two-parts survey: one part for identifying Akosi Dogie’s communication styles used, and the other part for determining the strengths and weaknesses of the communication styles he used. They also conducted a focus group discussion with eight players of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang who were followers of Akosi Dogie’s channel. The researchers developed guidelines on how the communication styles used by Akosi Dogie can be used as a criterion or standard in streaming online. They suggested too on how Akosi Dogie can further improve the communication styles he is using in streaming that can likewise be used by other aspiring video game streamers. The researchers indicated that, as perceived by his followers, Akosi Dogie’s use of communication styles was effective, which is a variation from the aggressive, passive-aggressive, assertive, and manipulative communication styles.
