Quarter Life Crisis among Private School Teachers in Selected Private Schools in Calamba City, Laguna: A Basis for Preventive Intervention

Abstract:

This study determined the predisposing factors to the tendency to experience quarter life crisis among private school teachers from selected private schools in Calamba City, Laguna. The study utilized a mixed method design applying both quantitative and qualitative approaches wherein a researchers-made test entitled Quarter Life Crisis Scale was constructed and administered to a total of 40 private school teachers. To support this study, Crisis Theory was used. It posits that the perception or experience of a situation or event as intolerable difficulty surpasses the person's recent resources and coping mechanisms. The findings of the study revealed that the most dominant and prevalent predisposing sfactor to the tendency to experience quarter life crisis was financial problem. The study likewise indicated that the overall percentage of the tendency to experience quarter life crisis of the private school teachers was in terms of three aspects, namely, career, relationships, and financial situations. Based on the findings, the researchers concluded that the majority of the private school teachers have no tendency to experience quarter life crises in terms of career, relationships, and financial situations. The researchers recommended the replication of this study with other participants; particularly with those from the public schools and/or with those in other professions (e.g. call center agents, police officers, etc.) where quarter life crisis is deemed prevalent in order to determine the applicability and consistency of the results.
