Abstract:

This study was conducted to determine the levels of application software competence of the faculty members of Baliuag University (BU) and, in turn, used the results to identify the ICT trainings needed to further improve the teachers’ competence in using application software. The study used a descriptive method of research. A ready-made questionnaire was used in gathering the data. The study was conducted at BU involving 97 full-time teachers (23 males and 74 females) from the different departments/colleges in the University using purposive sampling. The results of the study show that generally, the application software competence of the faculty members of BU is average in the following MS Office Applications: MS Word, MS Windows, Network Navigation, and MS PowerPoint. The faculty members perceive that they still need further trainings in complex computer programs/applications and they need to undertake additional trainings in some features of computer applications.
