Abstract:

Employee attrition is the ‘employee turnover’ or the rate of employees leaving an organization. It covers all the human resources functions of recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, performance management, training and development, and labor relations which served as the main source of information in systematically identifying the reasons behind the attrition intention of employees. Employee retention, on the other hand, means the rate of employees staying in the organization. Organizations continuously seek effective strategies to increase employee retention rate. Using purposive sampling method, the researchers selected 15 respondents from Lynville Land Development Corporation consisting of employees from Sales and Marketing Department and Human Resource and Admin Department. The research instrument used was a constructed, validated, and pre-tested survey questionnaire comprising 25 questions, clustered into Herzberg’s hygiene factors of company and administrative policy, supervision, salary, interpersonal relation, and working condition. The data gathered from the survey were tallied and tabulated. The analyzed and interpreted data showed two main factors that contributed to the employee attrition -- supervision and working condition. Based on the findings, strategies were formulated for the retention program to be recommended to Lynville Land Development Corporation.
