Abstract:

Graduates seek jobs related to the program they graduated from, unfortunately, due to different demands in the industries, they have difficulties finding their desired job. This research assessed the HR competencies of the HRDM graduates from 2015-2017 who were engaged in non-HR related work based on the HR Competencies of Lawrence (2018). This tool is composed of core drivers, organization enablers, and delivery enablers which are also called the modern HR. The study was concerned with the flexibility and the adaptability of the HR competencies acquired from the HRDM program in the different work settings. Data were collected over a 4-week period using key informant interviews and focus group discussion. Thematic analysis was used to establish patterns and themes from the statements of the participants. Results indicated that the participants were able to use their HR competencies despite being in non-HR related work. Usually, curriculum reviews only considered those working directly related in their program, but in this study, those not engaged in HRDM occupation provided their insights to further improve the program. It was suggested that the curriculum focus on actual approach rather than on theories or on combination of the two. Results were contributed for the curriculum review of the Human Resource Development Management program of the Colegio.
