A Project Feasibility Study on Establishing Instawash Laundry Shop with Pick-up and Delivery Service in Brgy. Milagrosa, Calamba City

Abstract:

Instawash is a proposed laundry shop with pick-up and delivery services for its target market consisting of the households in Calamba City area, especially the students and employees living independently. It will be established in Brgy. Milagrosa, Calamba City, Laguna where customers could do a self-service or get a full-service with a pick-up and delivery. With a high level of acceptability from the respondents, InstaWash Laundry Shop could have 5% market share in the first year which could increase by 2% yearly in the succeeding years. This is feasible because every year the unsatisfied demand (83.22% of 648,026.80 kgs /year projected demand) would increase due to the increasing population in the barangay. An efficient marketing program would help to support the viability of the business in its first stages of the operation and to last long. The proposed business has a total cost of ® 2,429,951.66 which is composed of ® 1,185,748.00 for fixed assets, ® 872,598.96 for working capital, ® 150,700.00 for pre-operating expenses and ® 220,904.70 for contingency fund. The financial analysis showed that the accounting rate of return would be 42.16% annually with a payback period of two years and six months. InstaWash Laundry Shop would provide employment opportunities to the residents of the barangay and source of income for their family’s daily needs. It would not harm the environment for it would use water disposal that would filter all the chemicals and other wastes of the laundry shop. The researchers recommended that the proposed business be innovated by adding new features of entertainment in the shop, like darts, board games and fictional books and by adding foods and beverages and tables in the waiting area of the shop to attract new customers in the future. Adding more washing machines may accommodate more customers. Using Instagram and Twitter accounts will make more people aware of the shop. Adding more promos or discounts will help to maintain customer relationships. Acquiring generators, using high quality detergents, bleach and fabric conditioner will emphasize uniqueness in laundry services. Further study and extensive research were recommended also in the case of changes from the current situation and condition.
