Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to design an economical and efficient system that can supply compressed air to all machines for the fabrication of some local parts of the automated teller machines. Through ocular visits, interview, consultations, surfing the net, and library research, the researchers were able to gather sufficient data and information to come up with a design for the distribution of compressed air to the press and CNC machines. The researchers formulated three alternative solutions to supply compressed air to the machines. The first alternative was a design of a closed loop system with three compressors and one air receiver. The second alternative solution was a design of a closed loop system with three compressors and two air receivers. The third alternative solution was a design of closed loop system with three compressors and three air receivers. Design calculations, schematic diagrams, and economic study for each alternative were done. Among the alternative solutions, the researchers recommended the design of a closed loop system with three compressors and two air receivers as the best alternative solution in designing the compressed air piping system at Jigs and Fixtures Manufacturing Company since it provides a better usage of compressed air. It is also economical and safer when it comes to maintenance compared to those other alternative solutions.
