Recovery of Discharged Effluent of Sewage Treatment Plant in Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba

Abstract:

This paper designed a recovery system of sewage treatment plant in Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba. Due to large amount of water being discharged, the school is paying much. Through ocular visits, interview, consultations, internet and library research, the researchers were able to gather data and information needed for this study. The researchers provided three alternative solutions for reliable recovery system: sand media filtration, nanofiltration, and ultraviolet (UV) light system. The advantages and disadvantages, design calculation, cost-benefit analysis, implementation, and maintenance were highly considered in coming up with the best and most economical alternative solution for this study. The chosen solution, sand media filtration, showed an ideal payback period and rate of return which may help the Colegio to lessen their expenses on water consumption.
