Abstract:

This study determined the destinations preferred by tourists and identified what they were looking for in a destination. The researchers compiled the most basic available information of the selected tourist destinations to help the respondents/tourists in rating the destinations based on the 4A’s (amenities, accommodation, accessibility, attraction) of tourism. This assessment could help businesses and tourist destination owners further develop their location or tailor it to the wants and needs of the tourists. This will help also in the retention of current patrons and in motivating future tourists to visit the selected destinations in this study. Using quantitative research design, the study was conducted in Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba with purposive sampling of 30 STHM students, those who participated in the Department’s Laguna Tour and/or had experienced going to the selected tourist destinations. From the 24 municipalities and 6 cities in Laguna, the researchers identified the tourist destinations in the province. The destinations were assessed based on the 4A’s of tourism. In Calamba, Brgy. Pansol was the respondents’ chosen tourist destination and the highest preferred criteria was accommodation. In Cavinti, Japanese Garden was respondents’ chosen tourist destination and the highest preferred criteria was attraction. In Nagcarlan, the Underground Cemetery was the chosen tourist destination with the highest preferred criteria of attraction. In the Seven Lakes of San Pablo, highest preferred criteria were attraction. And lastly, in Sta Rosa, the highest preferred criteria were accommodation and amenities.
