Selected Approaches in Differentiated Instruction: Its Effect on the Academic Achievement of the Students in Basic Mathematics II

Abstract:

The purpose of this research was to measure the effects of Differentiated Instruction (DI) on the achievement of students in the Education department of the University of Mindanao during the 2nd semester of SY 2004-2005. Three types of questionnaires were used in gathering data with mean, t-test for dependent and independent means as statistical tools. Using experimental design 10, results showed that the use of DI was significantly more effective than traditional approach in improving students’ achievement in basic mathematics. Hence, appropriate training in the use of DI must be conducted to experimental study on the use of DI with other subjects like English and Filipino may also be conducted to validate the outcome of this study.
