UTILIZATION OF STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIALS (SIM): ACCOUNTS OF PUBLIC ELEMENTARY TEACHERS

Rosie Lane P Sanguenza | Wilson E Gamao

Abstract:

The purpose of this is study was to explore the perceptions and experiences of teachers in the creation of Strategic Intervention Materials and their utilization in the classroom as a tool for teaching Science. This was conducted to know whether or not teachers believed and experienced positive results when using SIMs in the classroom Division of Davao De Oro. From the results of the conducted interviews, themes found under the experiences of teachers are that teachers use the SIM as a tool for learning least learned material for low-performing students, a tool for a more in-depth discussion of a topic, and a tool for autonomous learning. In terms of the challenges of teachers in the utilization of SIM, the teachers have shared that they are having difficulties in finding resources and general difficulty in the development of SIMs. From these results, it is suggested that teachers help other teachers in the development of the strategic intervention materials. in the development process, challenges such as obtaining resources, technological issues, activity selection, and general difficulties with material creation may be solved. Furthermore, teachers creating SIMs can collaborate with teachers who can provide graphics to reduce the time spent hunting for appropriate illustrations. School administrators are also encouraged to provide means and materials that would help teachers in the development of the SIMs.
