Discipline: Education

Abstract:

The study aimed to determine the relationship between the implementation of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and the teaching skills of non-education tertiary teachers in Region XI.  Employing descriptive correlation method as research design, purposive sampling technique in determining number of respondents, questionnaires in gathering data with mean, t-test, and Pearson r as statistical tools, results showed that the trainings conducted and introduced by CPD core trainers improved the teaching skills of new teachers who did not have formal training to teach.  Results suggested that Commission on Higher Education (CHED) should monitor the implementation of CPD programs in coordination with various professional organizations to improve learning processes of college students through intensive faculty development programs.
