Abstract:

Many educational methods, strategies and materials evolved through time. Some are re-invented to fit the needs of learning communities while some are designed to prepare students to survive in the dynamic technology-based work environment. Preparing students to adapt to future work conditions would require theoretical learning and technical proficiency through hands-on experiences. This research project tested the effectiveness of developed manuals for the subjects Materials Testing, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics and Soil Mechanics. These manuals were designed to help students apply and relate theory to practical situations. Using Experimental Design 10, the experimental groups were exposed to the developed manuals while the control groups were exposed to the old manuals. These manuals will become an essential part of the accredited laboratory facilities of Civil Engineering Laboratories of the University of Mindanao.
