Abstract:

The study assessed the quality of air in-airconditioned urban buses in Metro Manila and recommended interventions on how to improve it Specifically, the study assessed the concentration of air contaminants in air-conditioned urban buses. The air contaminants assessed included airborne bacteria, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and total volatile organic compounds. A survey of frequently contracted sicknesses and illnesses due to exposure to poor air quality in urban air-conditioned buses. It was found that measured contaminants are within acceptable limits of ASHRAE indoor air quality standards and DOLE standards.
