Abstract:

This study aimed to determine the health and safety practices of the Grade Five learners in nine (9) schools of South I District of Division of Iligan City as well as their academic performance. This study was based on Maslow's Theory of Motivation andB.F. Skinner's Operant Conditioning Theory. Skinner, Bandura's Theory of Social Learning, the Health Belief Model, and Lev Vygotsky's Social Constructivism Theory. With the result of this study, the teachers would also recognize that learners' health and safety practices had an impact on the learners’ academic performance thus, prevent high drop-out rates and promote increased participation rates. Based on the result of this study, the researcher devised a recommended action plan to reinforce the learners' health and safety practices. The descriptive-correlational design was employed. The study utilized survey questionnaires and the Learner’s Progress Report Cards as research instruments. The following conclusions were formed based on the following study findings: Grade Five learners always exercised health and safety activities. It was assumed that they had practiced these indicators at all times during the pandemic. Learners at this level had established foundational information, abilities, and core understandings and could transfer them autonomously through authentic performance challenges since their academic performance was highly satisfactory. A substantial link between learners' health and safety practices and their academic performance, learners' performance might be influenced by their health and safety. The findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between the health and safety practices of the learners and their academic performance.
