Abstract:
The medium of instruction that the Philippines uses are Filipino, English, and mother tongue. English
language plays a big role in the Philippine education because of its usages after finishing school. The
notion towards English proficiency is that the more proficient you are, the higher the chances of
success in the professional field. This is the main reason why the researchers decided to conduct this
study in order to determine whether or not English language proficiency impact the personality
development and decision making of students. In addition, the researchers identified the significant
relationship and difference of its impact when grouped according to the respondents’ profile. The
sampling technique used in identifying the respondents is the stratified proportional sampling
technique. The researchers utilized descriptive correlation design, a quantitative method of research,
commonly used to investigate the relationship between variables. The statistical tools that were
utilized to determine the results are the following: frequency and percentage, weighted mean, Chisquare test, T-test, and ANOVA. The findings of the study implicate that English language
proficiency has a positive impact on the personality development and decision making of students.
The results that were revealed served as a motivation for the researchers to design an intervention
plan that could develop the identified weaknesses of the respondents.
