Abstract:

The study aimed to design and utilize a mobile game application in assessing Grade 9 students in Biology at Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College, Marikina City during the school year 2022- 2023.This quantitative evaluation research utilized a research-made mobile game application as an assessment tool (quiz) which focused on the effects and impact of the implementation of the designed mobile game application. The researcher used 50 Grade 9 students for pilot testing, 50 Grade 9 students for the actual testing, 15 Science Teachers, and 15 combined IT personnel and ICT Teachers. The expert and teacher respondents strongly agree that the game mechanics of the developed assessment tool gives enjoyable gameplay, make the game interactive, guide the players in getting the right answer, and with rules and instructions that are easy to comprehend. More so, the evaluations of the expert and teacher respondents on the developed assessment tool in learning Biology do not differ significantly. Moreover, the developed game application has the potential to be used for an assessment tool. It offered features that would enable the students to grasp the concepts involved in Biology.
