Educational Podcast in Enhancing Listening Comprehension

Abstract:
The objective of this study is to enrich the listening comprehension of Grade 4 learners at Talaga
Elementary School, Morong, Rizal, during the school year 2022-2023, through the development of
educational podcast. This study employed experimental approach in obtaining data from the
effectiveness of the developed material. Based on the findings, the content, usefulness, language and
style, and technical quality material were very much acceptable according to the evaluation of the
experts. On the other hand, with respect to accuracy and up-to-datedness of information, the
evaluation of the experts was described as “Not Present”. The findings reveal that there is a great
difference on the pretest and posttest results, thus, there is an improvement on the students’ level of
performance with respect to the different listening competencies after having been exposed to the
developed educational podcast. Thus, the educational podcast could be used as an effective listening
enhancement material for Grade 4 learners because of its innovative approach, engaging and
challenging content, suitable language and style, ability to stimulate critical and creative thinking,
opportunity for student-centered technique, creative means of audio storytelling, and potential to
actually apply and measure different listening competencies.
